Industrial Manchester
A courtyard garden celebrating the craftsmanship of the original traditional Manchester red brick.
In the early 19th century, the rapid growth of Manchester's cotton industry drove the town's expansion, putting it at the heart of new, global networks of manufacturing and trade. Red brick housing spread across the landscape. Handmade, unique coal fired clay pavers made in the traditional way anchor this design to its genius loci and industrial heritage - with each clay paver displaying strong and natural variations of colour. This, combined with shade tolerant evergreen planting, provides a serene space to chill and have a brew.
